SAGE Highlights
October 17th, 2007Dear SAGE Advisers:
I hope this message finds you doing well.
There is much news to report for SAGE. Here is a short list of highlights.
1. Kenya, Singapore and Tanzania have all joined our GLOBALSAGE network, with Canada about to join.
2. Thailand, Germany, UAE and France are the most recent countries to express interest. Either Charles Toney or I will be traveling to Thailand at the end of March to present at a UN conference on youth development.
3. SAGE Russia is expanding to the St. Petersburg area this fall.
4. We expect 20 California high schools to compete in SAGE this spring. If you live in CA, write down April 26. We want you to judge in Sacramento!
5. Our California SAGE “staff” consists of about 15-16 outstanding Chico State students who are now making plans to visit their assigned high schools.
6. We expect 9 or 10 US states to compete at SAGE USA this spring. If you live in the US, write down May 23 and 24 for Cincinnati, Ohio. SAGE Adviser Rieva Lesonsky has assigned a reporter to cover the event, and we hope to get a big feature article in Entrepreneur Magazine over the summer!
7. The SAGE World Cup is set for July 21-28 in Abuja, Nigeria. Write down the dates and join us!
8. SAGEGLOBAL has incorporated as a non-profit in the state of California, and the IRS has assigned us an employer ID number. We are now in the process of filing for IRS tax-exempt status as a 501 c 3 entity.
9. I will be traveling to Nigeria on November 9-19 to meet with senior government and business leaders as we prepare for the World Cup in July, 2008.
10. On November 20-25, I will be traveling to France to meet with SAGE global adviser, Jean-François de Lavision, and the SAGE Select Council. The goal is to enlist at least five individuals or companies to become the first SAGE Select Council members.
11. Check out the new “What is SAGE?” Brochure attached.
12. One of our new CAL SAGE teams is the Tiger Woods Learning Center in Anaheim. Their Director, Kathy Bihr, asked me to write some “Teen Entrepreneurship Boot Camp” lessons for her students over the summer. SAGE COO, Rob Best, has been hired to co-teach the lessons at the learning center. Currently, they are halfway through.
Take care, everyone. Thanks for your continued SAGE advice and support.
Sincerely,
Curt
